On February 29, I met Sam Scarpelli for the first time at Steamboat Island Records to record some music and discuss collaboration. I played a series of songs I had written, in no particular order. Over the next 8 months, Sam and I worked on a weekly basis adding vocals and instrumentation, and rerecording whole songs when necessary. Most of these songs I had only ever played with just a guitar, so having Sam as a sounding board and collaborator allowed us to find just the right composition for each tune. With Sam at the helm of the recording booth, I was able to focus on the music for each individual performance and create the atmosphere that I desired for that particular track. The end result is this unique and diverse mix original songs about life, love, loss, personal growth, and redemption.
